Basic Ground Handling Course (3 months)

The course will include the following modules:

An overview of the Aviation Industry

This module provides a broad view of the aviation industry introducing the candidate to the framework in which he/ she is going to operate in. This module will cover

• State of aviation both in the international and domestic arena
• Prospects in the Indian aviation industry
• The regulatory authorities regulating various areas of the aviation industry

Passenger Handling

Passenger handling is a vital part of airport operations. The course will impart the processes logically, to make passengers comfortable and help in their smooth departure, arrival and other related procedures. The candidate will learn the procedures of

Ramp Handling

The term ramp handling encompasses many activities which go on constantly, including loading and unloading of baggage and cargo, handling of ground service equipments ensuring the safety and the security of the aircraft. This Module would cover

• Loading/unloading of baggage
• Handling of Ground service equipment
• Handling of special cargo
• Responsibility of ramp staff

Dangerous Goods Regulations

Hazardous Materials or Dangerous Goods are articles or substances that are capable of posing a significant risk to health, safety, or property, or the environment when transported by air. There exists a huge demand for professionally trained personnel to deal with dangerous goods at the airport. The course covers aspects such as

• Classification of dangerous goods
• Compatibility checks
• Permissible limits
• Marking
• Packaging and labeling of dangerous goods
• Handling of dangerous goods in emergency situations

Cargo Operations

Cargo operations are a vital part of airport operations. The fact that many airlines have cargo freighters on their fleet is a testament to the importance of the cargo segment.
